PROOF's latest exhibition at PHOTOVILLE in September

PROOF is proud and excited to announce our “Broken?” exhibition, which addresses the injustices within the United States criminal justice system and mass incarceration, has been selected for display at the annual Photoville event.

Photoville is a free pop-up photography village with exhibitions in and around 50+ shipping containers in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Broken? is compiled of a series of portraits and testimonies taken by high school students from all backgrounds who participated in PROOF’s Picture Justice program over the past two summers.

Picture Justice is a creative photojournalism program designed to educate high school students about social justice issues and empower them with the tools and confidence they need to create change in their own communities.

Picture Justice is a creative photojournalism program designed to educate high school students about social justice issues and empower them with the tools and confidence they need to create change in their own communities.

Picture Justice is unique in that it is the only program to offer social justice photojournalism courses to students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, regardless of their ability to pay. Founded in 2014 as a collaboration between the PROOF: Media for Social Justice and the United Nations International School, past Picture Justice programs have explored mass incarceration and immigration, among other human rights issues.
